STATEMENT OF FAITH
It is to be noted that no grouping of words can
fully express all that might be said as to our convictions and doctrinal position. However,
as a general and comprehensive combination of the principal factors for which WOMEN WHO OVERCOME stands, the following expresses
our STATEMENT OF FAITH.
1. THE TRINITY: We believe in one God, existing in a Trinity of Persons; FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT (John 15:26) who are
co-eternal of equal dignity and power (Matthew 3:16-17).
2. THE BIBLE: We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, verbally inspired and without error as originally written,
and that it is the only infallible rule of faith and practice for the Christian (11 Timothy 3:16, 11 Peter 1:12).
3. THE
PLAN OF SALVATION: We believe in Jesus Christ, conceived of the Holy Spirit
(Matthew 1:20) born of the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:35), whose death on the cross for the redemption of sinners provided a sufficient
and complete expiation for their guilt (Ephesians 1:7), and who rose again for our justification (Romans 4:25), ascended into
heaven and is now seated at the hand of the Father, interceding for all those who come unto God by Him (Hebrews 7:25). We are looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the Glory of our great God and
Savior, Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13 R.V. margin) and believe that all things shall finally be subjected to God through Him (1
Corithians 15:25-28).
4. THE
CHURCH: We believe that the true Church, which is the body of Christ (Ephesians
1:23), is formed by the work of the Holy Spirit in all those who trust Christ as their Savior (Ephesians 2:22, I Corinthians
12:13). We also believe in the continuity of the New Testament Church in the
form of local authority or control, as it is clearly defined in the Scriptures (Acts 14:27).
To these bodies of congregations are given the ordinances of water baptism and the Lord's Supper as a means of a public
testimony (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:41-42, 18:8 and I Corinthians 11:23-26).
5.
THE CHRISTIAN'S MINISTRY:
In the view of Christ's last command (Matthew 28:19-20) and recognizing the lost condition of all those who fail to
accept the Gospel message (John 3:18, 36) we believe in the urgency of every Christian to respond to the Great Commission
of Christ. "For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish,
but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). It is to the work of helping to carry
out the plan of God in this age that WOMEN WHO OVERCOME is dedicated, in conformity with the last command of our Savior to
"be my witnesses unto the uttermost part of the earth" with the God-given means at our disposal, the message of the Gospel,
which "is the power of God unto Salvation to everyone that believeth" (Romans 1:16), is being literally carried out to the
uttermost part of the world (Acts 1:8). We also seek to carry out the command
of our Savior to each all nations (Matthew 28:20) in addition to evangelizing them.
6.
THE HOLY SPIRIT: We
believe in the Holy Spirit as being the person who convicts mankind of sin, righteousness and of judgment; the Christian is
baptized into the body of Christ by the ministry of the Holy Spirit, who also seals them, indwells them and guides them unto
the revealed truth (John 16:8-11, 13, Romans 8:9, II Corinthians 3:16, Ephesians 1:13-14, 5:18, I John 2:20, 27).
7.
SAVED BY GRACE:
We believe we are saved by grace and not by works, according to Ephesians 2:8.
8.
THE ETERNAL STATE:
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal life and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting
punishment (Matthew 25:46, John 5:28-29, 11:25-26, Revelations 20: 5-6, 12, 13). We
believe that the souls of the redeemed are, at death, absent from the body and present with the Lord where in conscious bless
they await the first resurrection when spirit, soul and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord (Luke 23:43,
Rev. 20:4-6, II Corinthians 5:8, Phillipians 3:21-23, I Thessalonians 4:16-17).
9.
THE PERSONALITY OF SATAN: We believe that Satan is a created
person and as such he will have an end. He is the author of sin and the cause
of the fall. Satan is an archenemy of both God and man. Eternal punishment awaits for him in the Lake of Fire (Isaiah 14:12-17, Matthew 4:2-11, Revelation 20:10).
10.
THE GIFTS: We believe that the gifts are for
today. "All gifts have remained upon this earth since the resurrection of Jesus
Christ and none have been done away with. (I Corinthians 12:4-11).
11.
THE FIVE FOLD: We believe in the five
fold listed in Ephesians 4:11-12. We believe that all offices are in operation
through the body of Christ today - and none have been done away with.
12. THE RAPTURE - (caught up): We believe we shall be
caught up with the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord (I Thessalonians 4:13-18).
